Our goals as a math team at CLPS in this training module are outlined below. We believe that the integration of this TI calculator will benefit you as a student in many ways including mathematical exploration through inductive learning, interactive and visual engagement, collaborative learning, greater efficiency on college admissions exams, and a increased preparation for college-level course work awaiting you in the future. Course Module Goals:
Setting up your TI-Nspire.
Familiarity with the basic operations of the calculator.
The ability to show proof of understanding for basic operations of the calculator.
Of course, before you can get started on this training module, you need to have the calculator. The specific calculator the school is using this year is the Texas Instruments TI-Nspire CX II Graphing Calculator and was distributed to students through the school (An email was sent communicating that the calculators could be picked up in the front office on specific days.) Once you go through the initial set-up of selecting language, etc. for your new calculator, please proceed to the next lesson.
Getting to Know the Calculator
In this lesson, you will view several videos that will walk you through the basics of the calculator. Below, we have listed the link to the site you should visit along with the videos you need to view. As you watch the videos, make sure to have your calculator out so you can follow along. Feel free to pause and rewind as needed to ensure you are able to perform these basic tasks with the calculator. Please click here to visit the TI-Nspire Tutorials for the TI-Nspire calculator. Then, click on "Explore the basics" under TI-Nspire series. Please view the following videos from the tutorial video list. Remember, you are not mastering the calculator right now. You are just being introduced to it, so do not worry if you do not understand everything about the calculator right now. Note: Make sure you read the Titles below to make sure you are viewing ONLY the videos below. You do not need to view all of the videos on the linked page. A. Basics
