All families should plan to send one adult per actor to help with set build on Monday, May 3 from 5:30-8:30pm at at Altamesa Church of Christ.
No construction experience required, but it's wonderful if you have it!
There will be lots of painting, gluing, cutting, etc.
The students will be in rehearsal until 6:00 and then we will join everyone at the set build. Transportation details TBD.
All drama parents are needed to sign up for a day to bring snacks and/or drinks for rehearsals lasting 3 or more hours (see sign up in your email).
All drama parents should sign up for a duty the week of the show or on production night (see sign up calendar in emails).
Actors and families stay to strike the set after Friday night performance.
Actors will not be allowed to leave until the set is moved back to CLPS and the church is cleaned. I will give specific assignments to actors and when those are done, we all leave together.
Families who would like to bring relatives and go out to eat after the show should plan for the Thursday night performance for this reason.
You may be wondering, “what is the Thespian Society?” I am happy to let you know that the International Thespian Society honors junior high and high school students who have dedicated numerous hours to advancing theater arts. Students involved in any Christian Life Preparatory School drama production earn points for their efforts and in relation to the role that they played. Actors, technical designers, crew and even ushers earn points toward induction into the Society. Once a student has earned ten points they are eligible for induction. We will hold an induction ceremony, much like the ceremony for the National Honor Society, where students’ achievements in drama will be highlighted. This date is to be determined. I was inducted into the International Thespian Society in 1995 and thoroughly enjoyed the distinction as a recognized actress above other students who just took theater as a class credit. I lettered in theater three times and was happy to add my Thespian patch to my letterman jacket and wear my Thespian regalia at my high school graduation. Students who earn 40 Thespian points will letter in Theater and will be able to purchase a CLPS Letterman jacket to treasure.
