Learning Lab Guidelines for Teachers

First,  if a test date has changed, the date should be changed on the CLPS Summative Calendar as soon as possible.
Proctors for students with accommodations are made up to a week in advance.
If a test has moved the learning lab coordinator needs to be notified even if the calendar has not yet been updated.

The Learning Lab is used in the following scenarios:

Students with Accommodations

The Learning Lab is a designated place for the following purposes:
  • to allow students with accommodations a place for individual testing
  • to allow students with accommodations extended time for exams that are NOT able to be completed in Study Hall (where they still need individual proctoring)
    • If a student does not have a study hall period but is finished with school at 3pm, we will arrange a proctor for 3-4pm to give them time to finish their exam. If this conflicts with their schedule the learning lab coordinator will arrange for a proctor on Tuesday or Thursday.
    • If a student does not have a study hall and gets out of school at 4pm, the learning lab coordinator will arrange with the parents another day to come up to school and finish the exam at the earliest convenience with a proctor. Teachers must let the learning lab coordinator know as soon as possible.
  • If a student with accommodations that has previously not utilized a certain service begins to need to utilize them.
  • If a student's parent contacts you about their student needing additional accommodations or anything different than what has been sent to you as their teacher, please notify the ASC Learning Lab as soon as possible.

Students with a full schedule MWF and no accommodations

The Learning lab may be used to make-up exams that cannot be scheduled during Study Hall MWF.
  • For students who go to school 8:30-4pm so they need to make up an exam on Tuesday or Thursday.

Study Hall is used for testing in the following scenarios:

Students without Accommodations

Scenarios where the Learning Lab is not needed and the teacher sets up make up.
This is for Students without accommodations:
  • A student needs to take a make up test (for any reason) and has a study hall period. The teacher will place the students' test in the Make Up Test folder in the office and arrange the make up test with the student and their family.
    • Please make sure students who have multiple tests to make up in one week know which test they will take which day of the week in Study Hall.
  • The teacher should notify the learning lab coordinator so they can arrange this with the student, family and individual proctor.
  • A student needs to take a make up test (for any reason) and is finished with their school day at 3pm. They can go take their makeup tests during the 3-4pm study hall.
    • The teacher should arrange this with the student and their family.
