What is the International Thespian Society?
You may be wondering, “what is the Thespian Society?” I am happy to let you know that the International Thespian Society honors junior high and high school students who have dedicated numerous hours to advancing theater arts. Students involved in any Christian Life Preparatory School drama production earn points for their efforts and in relation to the role that they played. Actors, technical designers, crew and even ushers earn points toward induction into the Society. Once a student has earned ten points they are eligible for induction.
We will hold an induction ceremony, much like the ceremony for the National Honor Society, where students’ achievements in drama will be highlighted. This date is to be determined.
I was inducted into the International Thespian Society in 1995 and thoroughly enjoyed the distinction as a recognized actress above other students who just took theater as a class credit. I lettered in theater three times and was happy to add my Thespian patch to my letterman jacket and wear my Thespian regalia at my high school graduation. Students who earn 40 Thespian points will letter in Theater and will be able to purchase a CLPS Letterman jacket to treasure.

- Thespian-level access to the Theatre Education Community
- Leadership opportunities at the troupe, chapter, and national levels

- Eligibility to audition at the Thespian Festival for admission to college theatre programs, submit original plays to the Thespian Playworks program, audition for chapter Individual Events programs and qualify for the National Individual Events Showcase (NIES). See schooltheatre.org/festival.
- Eligibility to receive additional Thespian honors, including graduation and honor items, advancement through Thespian honor ranks, and Thespian scholar distinction.
