Description: The benefits of music study range from math connections to logic/predictive skills to artistic expression. The purpose of High School Mixed Choir is to cultivate music theory and skills associated with choral music and performance. Students will sing a varied repertoire of music to promote growth in both vocal range and technique. Class time will include exercises for vocal development, ear training as it relates to singing harmony, music reading, and song preparation for the final concert performance. There will be no satellite homework for this course, and no previous experience is required. This is a six-week course

Middle School Treble Choir For girls in grades 6-8
Description: The benefits of music study range from math connections to logic/predictive skills to artistic expression. The purpose of Middle School Treble Choir is to strengthen vocal performance in a focused choral setting designed for sopranos and altos. Students will sing a varied repertoire of music to promote growth in vocal awareness, tone production, pronunciation, and singing in harmony. Class time will include exercises for range expansion, ear training as it relates to blend and part singing, and song preparation for the final concert performance. There will be no satellite homework for this course, and no previous experience is required. This is a six-week course.
Grading: This is a Pass/Fail course. Student grades will be determined by Participation (75%) and Performance (25%).
Lower School Stock Show Art Competition For grades 1-5 Description: This art course will provide an opportunity for students to create and compete in the local Stock Show art contest with peers from the Fort Worth community. In this course, students will create pieces to submit to the competition. The focus of the artwork is traditional, abstract, realism, contemporary, or impressionism styles that depict or express the culture of Texas and western environments, both contemporary and historical. Grading: This is a Pass/Fail course. Schedule: Weeks 1-6 of the fall semester.
Fall 2025 Seasonal Drama Courses
Fall Drama Production (Stage Actor) For grades 6-12
Description: Students in grades 6-12 will audition for an acting role. If cast, they will be enrolled in this course for the duration of the rehearsal and performance schedule. Students will learn acting techniques and blocking, and the course will culminate in community performances of the production.
Grading: This is a Pass/Fail course. Student grades will be determined by Participation (75%) and Performance (25%).
Rehearsals begin at the end of September and culminate in performances in November.
Credits Earned: 2 (for students in grades 9-12)

Fall Drama Production(Technician) For grades 6-12
Description: Students interested in being a technician may apply for any of the following technical production roles: Sound Design, Lighting Design, Set Design, and Stage Management. If selected, they will be enrolled in this course for the duration of the technical rehearsal and performance schedule. Students will learn how to design sounds and lights, create sets and props, and manage various aspects of the stage. This course will culminate in community performances of the production.
Grading: This is a Pass/Fail course. Student grades will be determined by Participation (75%) and Performance (25%).
Rehearsals begin at the end of September and culminate in performances in November.
Credits Earned: 1 (for students in grades 9-12)

Rainbow Fish Production (Actor) For grades 2-6
Description: Students in grades 2-6 are invited to take part in the Rainbow Fish musical this spring! Students in third and fourth grades are enrolled in a drama course in the fall, and students in second and fifth grades are enrolled in a drama course in the spring. In these classes will be the bulk of preparation for the musical with each class learning a number to contribute to the overall show. During the week of the production, all classes will come together for after-school rehearsals. Participating in the actual production is optional, but we will be preparing for this production in class. We will send a form to parents to let us know whether their child will participate or not.
Fifth and sixth grade students are invited to audition for lead/solo roles. If cast, they will come to rehearsals after school starting in January. The enrollment fee for 6th grade leads is $150.
Fall to Spring Seasonal Music Course
Solo and Ensemble For grades 9-12
Description: The purpose of Solo & Ensemble is to encourage individual musical development in students and to provide the opportunity to win awards and recognition for their excellent work. Students who have experience playing an instrument or singing should prepare an approved piece of music to present for adjudication at competition in late February. Students may participate as an instrumental or vocal soloist or as part of a group ensemble of 3 or more. A larger vocal ensemble will also be offered if a minimum number of students is reached. Additionally, students may participate in as many different solos and ensembles as they desire. This course is primarily independent practice/study with 4-6 weekly coaching sessions with a music coach at school. Students will be accountable for maintaining a practice log for home rehearsal time (including private lesson instruction); coaching is designed to strengthen the work already being done and not to teach the piece from scratch. Lastly, students will have an opportunity to present their pieces to the school community in the spring. This course will run from December through February.
Students may participate in this course in one or more of the following ways: 1) As a vocal or instrumental soloist, and/or 2) as part of a vocal or instrumental ensemble. Instrumentalists should already know how to play their instruments.
This course will culminate at a Solo and Ensemble competition in early spring where students will play for judges and receive feedback and awards.
Grading: This is a Pass/Fail course.
Schedule: Coaching will begin in late fall and through early spring. The competition is in late February or early March.

Description: The CLPS high school One-Act Play has done very well at the One-Act Play competition over the last decade, winning or placing at district and state each year. Be part of a winning tradition at CLPS! Students will hone their acting skills and tell a memorable story on the stage.
Students who would like an acting role will need to audition. If cast, they will be enrolled in this course for the duration of the rehearsal and performance schedule. Students will learn acting techniques and blocking in preparation for the TCAF district and championship competitions, as well as a CLPS community performance.
Grading: This is a Pass/Fail course. Student grades will be determined by Participation (75%) and Performance (25%).
Rehearsals begin in February and culminate in the TCAF competitions and community performance in late April and early May.
Note: These students will participate in a district competition with the possibility of advancing to state championships. These competitions will require some travel.
