Description: In this course, students will learn vocal technique and fundamental music theory through the singing of classical and traditional choral music. Singers will learn how to develop their individual voice, blend with the ensemble, read music notations, and present themselves on stage. This course will culminate in a community concert.

Fall Drama Production (Stage Actor) For grades 6-12 with scenes featuring lower school students.
Description: Students in grades 6-12 will audition for an acting role. If cast, they will be enrolled in this course for the duration of the rehearsal and performance schedule. Students will learn acting techniques and blocking, and the course will culminate in community performances of the production. An exciting addition to this year’s production will be some scenes featuring students in the lower school, making this a true school-wide production! Lower school drama teachers will communicate parents how their lower school student can be involved in the production.
Grading: This is a Pass/Fail course. Student grades will be determined by Participation (75%) and Performance (25%).

If selected, they will be enrolled in this course for the duration of the technical rehearsal and performance schedule. Students will learn how to design sounds and lights, create sets and props, and manage various aspects of the stage. This course will culminate in community performances of the production.

Description: The CLPS high school One-Act Play has done very well at the One-Act Play competition over the last decade, winning or placing at district and state each year. This group won the state championship Division III TAPPS One-Act Play competition last year, as well as winning numerous acting and technical awards. Be part of a winning tradition at CLPS! Students will hone their acting skills and tell a memorable story on the stage.
Students who would like an acting role will need to audition. If cast, they will be enrolled in this course for the duration of the rehearsal and performance schedule. Students will learn acting techniques and blocking in preparation for the TAPPS district and championship competitions, as well as a CLPS community performance.
Grading: This is a Pass/Fail course. Student grades will be determined by Participation (75%) and Performance (25%).
Rehearsals are during weeks 5-12 of the semester.
Note: These students will participate in a district competition with the possibility of advancing to state championships. These competitions will require some travel.

Fall to Spring Seasonal Music Course
TAPPS Solo and Ensemble For grades 9-12
Description: Be part of our award-winning music program by joining an ensemble or getting training practicing for a solo! We want to develop several ensembles and many soloists over the course of this competition.
Students may participate in this course in one or more of the following ways: 1) As a vocal or instrumental soloist, and/or 2) as part of a vocal or instrumental ensemble. Instrumentalists should already know how to play their instruments.
This course is a mixture of on-campus rehearsals and at-home practice that students will track via a practice log. Students will practice their solos or ensemble parts at home and also meet once a week on-campus under the supervision of the teacher.
This course will culminate at the TAPPS Solo and Ensemble competition where students will play for judges and receive feedback and awards.
Grading: This is a Pass/Fail course.
Schedule: Wednesdays on Weeks 11-17 of the fall semester and weeks 1-6 of the spring semester, culminating in performing at the DFW Regional contest on February 22.
Note on the schedule: In the fall semester, solo and ensemble rehearsal is scheduled at the same time as the Fall Drama Production rehearsals on Wednesdays from 3:00-4:00 pm. This will not be an issue for students who would like to do both of these courses; the drama and music directors will sort out any conflicts for students who are enrolled in both courses. In the spring semester, there are no overlapping rehearsals with solo and ensemble and drama.
