Building a habit of service is impactful in the life and character of our students. Our hope is that students will continue to serve their communities and have a positive impact on those around them and the world, as is a characteristic in our profile of a Graduate. Service Hours are part of the graduation program and we encourage and promote service to our school community and the larger community in which we live. Opportunities are offered throughout the school year, hosted by the House System such that a student could meet the minimum hours needed for graduation.
A student may meet the needed hours by serving in these capacities:
Ongoing service in your community
Trips offered by churches, service organizations, or pre-approved organizations
Summertime opportunities, such as VBS or other one-time opportunities
Any service opportunity must be pre-approved by the Dean of Students. Please use the pre-approval form linked below.
During High School, a student needs a minimum of 6 hours per semester to complete their graduation requirements, totalling 48 hours by the time of graduation.
A student may start accruing hours the summer prior to their entrance into High School. If a student is interested in the Community Service graduation distinction, consult with the Academic Advisor and/or Dean of Students to understand the requirements of that school year’s graduation plan.
For a list of pre-approved community service opportunities, please email Emily Hargrave ([email protected]).
Please fill out this form AFTER you complete the hours. FACTS will be updated 2-3 times per semester.
