A key to a successful school year is making the most of Parent and Student Orientation! These sessions are specially designed to prepare you and your student for your satellite (at home) days and to establish relationship and communication with your teachers.
Only one parent from each family needs to attend the week of orientation but both parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. It is always best for the parent to attend who is most responsible for the satellite classroom. These sessions are intended for ALL (New & Returning) 6th through 8th grade families.
If there are multiple sessions offered at one time, more information will be provided to help you decide which session to attend.
If you have children ages 12 and under register for Free Parent Training Childcare HERE Additional details about childcare can be found in the childcare form.
LUNCH
Lunch will not be provided for parents. Please bring a lunch or make lunch plans. Please Note: Children staying in childcare through lunch will eat in their groups. Please pack them a lunch.
GYM
The gym will be open for 6th-8th grade students who are not in assigned sessions. Supervision will be provided.
PARENT MODULE PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION
At the heart of every school rests a philosophy of education, which provides clarity and direction on fundamental questions such as the nature and purpose of education as well as the relationship of parents and the school in the education process. As such, the philosophy of education is a foundational statement for a school that is important for all community members - administrators, teachers, and parents alike to understand and embrace in the daily life of the community.
The Parent Module sessions are repeat sessions and will cover the same content throughout the week. Please choose which session works best for you and RSVP for ONE of the sessions during the week. RSVP HERE
HOUSE SORTING For ALL Middle & Upper School Students
Those who are NEW to CLPS in the 7th through 12th grades and ALL 6th grade students will be sorted into their houses for the first time in our traditional ceremony. Students will then gather to meet their house members for induction and compete in the first House Battle of the year! Students will receive their house shirts and be able to change into them before the induction. All students should follow the out of uniform dress code for this event (basically- shorts and skirts should reach the knee and no holes in any clothing)
Parents may drop off their secondary students at 4:00 pm and then rejoin them at 5:00 pm for the party as the induction ceremonies are a tradition for House members and advisors to attend. The Back to School Party will follow immediately afterward.
BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY
You are invited to the Back to School Party! Join the entire CLPS Community as we celebrate the start of a new school year! There will be inflatables (wet and dry), games and food. All parents, students and siblings are welcome to attend! 5:00-8:00 pm in the school parking lot.
