 Senior Final Exam Schedules

Seniors are given finals early in the spring semester to ensure the gradebook is accurate and students have passed all required courses in time for graduation. Because of this, CLPS has instituted an alternative final exam schedule for Senior students.
  • Students will attend a regular schedule during Senior Finals week until they sit for their final exam. After the final is given in a course, that class will be over for the semester. One exception is that Humanities will continue after AP English exams.
  • An exam may occur on a Tuesday or Thursday. Please make arrangements now to attend these final exams.
  • Students are expected to attend all electives until May 14. Attendance will be taken and finals given on May 14.
  • Students who do not have class must attend study hall or leave campus for those class times. Students may sit in their own cars but may not have other students in their car. Students may not congregate in the school or church grounds/parking lot.

Junior and Senior Final Exam Schedules

Juniors enrolled in a Senior Level class or a class that has an AP option will take their finals according to the following schedule.

  • Students are expected to attend all classes and electives until May 14 unless they have completed their final or AP exam. Attendance will be taken and finals given on May 14.
  • Students who do not have class must attend study hall or leave campus for those class times. Students may sit in their own cars but may not have other students in their car. Students may not congregate in the school or church grounds/parking lot.
  • Other finals not listed below will be given during the general finals schedule on May 17-19, 2020.

First Grade Christmas Around the World

December 4, 2020

Community Service Opportunity Friday, December 11

There is an opportunity to earn 4 hours of community service right here in our CLPS building next Friday, December 11.
The staff of Christ Church will be sorting the pallets of food in the gym for distribution from 2-6 pm on Friday December 11.  We realize that some of that time you may be in class, but if you have an off period, or study hall you are welcome to earn CS hours by helping out.

Please fill out the form here if you plan to help.   If you sign up, please commit to being there. Please give Mr. Hay as much notice as possible if you signed up and cannot make it.

Again, you do not have to serve the entire time. You can serve during off periods, STUDY HALL, or after 4 pm. There is a section on the form in the link above where you can indicate you hours of availability.

Thanksgiving Food Drive Update:

CLPS alone provided 1/3 of the total bags donated for the CCA holiday Baskets Food Drive!  Thank you so much for participating!

New Front Door Safety Protocols

All adults visiting the building will need to show picture ID to the front door monitor and receive a visitor badge before they will be able to move throughout the school. You will not gain entry without it, so please do not leave your wallet at home or in the car.

This policy does NOT apply to afternoon pick up of elementary students from the auditorium. Anyone with a school-issued security badge will be able to pick up those students from the auditorium.

Tardy Students Must Show ID

Tardy students will need to enter through the front doors of the main building (or the back doors of the church building) and show their school ID before they may proceed to class. If students do not have their ID on them, they will have to go to the front office to be identified before proceeding to class. Students should have their student IDs on them at all times.

Secondary School Arrival at 8:24 AM

Please do not drop off your 7-12 students before 8:24 in the morning. Many students are gathering outside the doors before the first period and are not social distancing. The school is only gathering students in cohorts inside the building, so this outside socialization is putting our whole student body and their teachers at risk for Covid transmission and quarantines.

CLPS Family Read Aloud

Picture
The Family Read Aloud for the month of December is Heidi by Johanna Spyri.
Book Summary
This book is a tale of Heidi, the Swiss orphan girl who is sent to live with her hermit grandfather in the mountains of the Alps. Follow her adventures in the wildflower-covered Alps and learn with her the true meaning of friendship, love, and family.  Sarah Clarkson (Read for the Heart) explains that Heidi is "a redemptive story with clear spiritual themes of grace and restoration.  The book is also highly descriptive. I can still remember the accounts of toasted cheese, fresh mountain winds, and Heidi's little nest in her grandfather's attic."
NOTE:  The Amazon Puffin edition does not include the Christian elements of the story.

Thanksgiving Food Drive

Picture
As you know, LIVE THANKFULLY cancelled their drive, so we are going to participate in another drive with Christian Community Assistance. In an effort to keep this simple, and stay within our COVID protocols as a school, here is how it will work:
1. See the flyer with shopping list.
2. Fill a cloth/reusable bags with the items.
3. Bring $10 separately. (not in bag) They will use that to buy a gift card for the recipient.
4. Drive up, drop off:  We will have someone waiting to take your bags and $10 outside the roll up door in the East parking lot (student parking lot) every morning for the next two weeks(11/9-11/20) from 8:15-8:30 am.
They are really grateful for our participation, as donations are way down due to COVID.

Shopping tip: If you download the Ibotta app, many of these items are available for 100% cash rebate with their "Free Thanksgiving Dinner" promotion.

Keep up with the House System

The CLPS House system is up and running despite Covid. House Battles may not look the same but they are still going on. This year, House Barons are arranging battles in "cohorts" where classmates can compete on behalf of the whole house. This keeps groups small and safe while continuing to build house spirit.
Teachers are also able to award House Points to celebrate students in class. They may give points based on character merit at any point.

In order to give each student an opportunity to check out books from our school library, we will be putting our library carts outdoors during pick-up times once a week.  Please respect other families by waiting for enough space before moving to the carts and using hand sanitizer to choose books.
  2. Our books are all organized according to reading level (A-Z). Your child's teacher will help you to determine your child's reading level.
  3. Elementary students may check out two books at a time.  Note which books you check out in the three ring binder by writing down the letter and number on the colorful circle sticker on the back of each book. Please plan on returning your books in three weeks.
  4. Please return your books in the bin provided. Returned books will not be recirculated for 48 hours from their drop off.
  5. CLPS would love your new and gently used books for our library. Please select books that are for kindergarten through sixth graders. You can donate books by leaving them in the book return bin.

7th-12th Grade Identification Badges

New safety protocols require our 7th-12th grade students to wear school-issued picture IDs every day. They need to be clipped to the shirt to be visible while sitting or on a lanyard. CLPS lanyards are available for students in the office.

First Day of School

We had a great first few days of elementary school! Enjoy the gallery!
